A Touch of Poetry...

Ok, this is not really an update but rather just a bit of stuff I thought you might find interesting. Check out this bit of poetry that I composed.

I was learning Portuguese a number of years ago and decided to see if I knew it well enough to write some poetry in it. I think it turned out quite well.
The English translation doesn't really do the piece justice, but you can get the idea from it.

Let me know what you think:

Você é… (You are…)

A Deusa do meu céu,
The Goddess of my Heaven,
Uma viva salvação.
A living salvation.
A Diaba do meu inferno,
The She-Devil of my Hell,
A encarnação da tentação.
The embodiment of temptation.

Tua beleza é a arma
Your beauty is the weapon
Almodada p’ra me assassinar,
Fashioned to assassinate me,
Porque quando eu te vejo
Because every time I see you
É suficiente p’ra me matar.
It is enough to kill me.

Tua existência é o caçador
Your existence is the hunter
Que me quer perseguir.
That wants to stalk me.
Tua aparência é a isca
Your appearance is the bait
P’ra minha morte me atrair.
To my demise, it attracts me.

Teu olhar é a rede
Your gaze is the net
De que não consigo escapar.
From which I cannot escape.
Teu rosto é a cacete
Your face is the club
Que me pode incapacitar.
To me, it incapacitates.

Mas teu sorriso é a espada,
But your smile is the sword,
O último retoque teu,
Your final finishing touch,
Que penetra no meu coração
That penetrates my heart
E apaga o fôlego meu.
And takes my breath away.

  1. Very interesting concept of constricting attraction. It is sensual and very defined. The movement if the poem is slow and steady like a ribbon throughout the wind.. (if you could put motion to the descriptions of your poem! make sure you follow! Thank you so much for your feedback! tell your friends!

Tens muito talento para a escrita, embora deva confessar que o inglês não é o meu forte x)
